Shahi Khichdi
Shahi khichdi is a hot and spicy preparation and a complete meal, as it has moong dal and rice. Reduce the quantity of chilies to make it less spicy and hot.
Ingredients we will require to make this recipe:
Rice : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 1/2 cup
Green gram (moong dal) : . . . . . 1/2 cup
Mustard seed (rai) : . . . . . 1 tea spoon
Cumin seed (jeera) : . . . . 1/2 tea spoon
Pepper corn (akkha mari) : . . . . . 6 to 8
Cardamom (Elaichi) : . . . . . . . 3 to 5
Clove (lavang) : . . . . . . . . . . 2 to 3
Green chilies (hari mirchi) : 7 to 8
Finely chopped onion (pyaj) : 3 to 4
Oil (tel) : . . . . . . . . 2 table spoon
Salt (namak) to taste
Heat oil in a top and fry mustard seed, cumin seed, pepper, cardamom and clove. Add chopped green chilies and onion and cook till onion is soft. Add rice and moong dal, mix thoroughly and add water to cook rice. Add salt to taste.
