Nawabi Dal
Nawabi dal is a rich preparation with very high calorific value. This dish is spicy and hot so reduce the quantity of chilies as per your taste.

Black gram split lentil (urad dal - washed) : one cup

Curd (dahi) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3/4 cup
Indian cottage cheese (paneer) : . . 100 grams
Cream (malai) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 cup

Coriander leaves (hara dhania)

Method of making Nawabi dal
Wash and soak black gram split, bengal gram and kidney beans in a container for six to eight hours.
Add turmeric powder and salt. Add peeled potato and boil it till dal is done. You can also pressure cook it for fifteen to twenty minutes. Mash it with back of a ladle. Also crush potato.
Grind onions and mix it with ginger and garlic paste.
Heat oil in a top and fry cumin seed for a minute. Add onion ginger garlic paste and fry till it is just pink. Add finely chopped green chilies and fry for a minute. Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and curd. Cook for five minutes till tomatoes are soft and then add cream.
Heat ghee in a frying pan and fry paneer till it is just brown. Transfer it in top and pour boiled dal in it. Mix it well and add sugar, black pepper powder and tamarind pulp. Cook Nawabi dal on a very slow flame for fifteen to twenty minutes.
Garnish Nawabi dal with coriander leaves.
