Batata wada
Batata wada or potato balls is a popular mid afternoon snack, which is high in calorie and spicy. Reduce the quantity of red chili powder and green chili if you don't want hot.
Ingredients we will need to make this dish:
Potatoes (aloo) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 250 grams
Mustard seeds (rai) : . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 tea spoon
Red Chili Powder (lal mirchi) : . . . . . . . . 1 tea spoon
Green chilies (hari mirchi) : . . . . . . . . . three to four
Kadi Patta : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8 to 10
Ginger (adrak) : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1/2 table spoon
Turmeric powder (haldi) : . . . . . . . . .1/2 tea spoon
Coriander leaves (hara dhania)
Besan : . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3/4 cup
Baking soda : . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1/4 tea spoon
Oil for frying and tempering
Salt (namak) to taste
Boil potatoes in pressure cooker for 8-10 minutes. Peel and smash it. Temper it with mustard seed, green chilies, kadi patta and ginger. Add turmeric powder, coriander leaves and salt. Mix it thoroughly and make balls.
Make thick paste of besan in water. Add red chili powder, baking soda and salt. Coat potato balls in the paste and deep fry.
Enjoy batata wada with red chutney and fried green pepper.
